Visit the Dallas Area
Enjoy Sports Teams Like the Rangers and Stars
There’s little doubt about it – Texas is crazy about their professional sports. And the Dallas area is no exception. With major pro teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, and MLB – there’s a wealth of exciting sports action waiting on your tour through the Big D.
In downtown Dallas you’ll find the American Airlines Center. Home to the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars, the American Airlines Center is an easy drive in from nearby Duncanville. Check out a game as the Mavericks and Stars have seasons that run simultaneously from early fall through the summer.
The NFL is one of the biggest draws in the country, making it, arguably, one of the most popular sports. Dallas is home to one of the league’s most famous teams – the Dallas Cowboys. With a slew of fans across the country, the Cowboys see many, if not all, seats filled at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The season kicks off in September and plays through the New Year. Make the drive in from nearby Mansfield, and Burleson.
While the NFL reigns supreme on the popularity scale in the U.S., a growing contender may well be Major League Soccer. With an evolving fan base, the MLS features 19 teams spread throughout the U.S. and Canada. Dallas is home to FC Dallas, who play all home matches at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, a quick and panoramic drive north from downtown Dallas. Check out a match on your summer travels – make the trip in from McKinney, Plano, or Lewisville.
Baseball is regarded as America’s Pastime, and Texas features both the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers. While the entire state might claim fan-hood behind the Rangers, it’s the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area the Rangers call home. Make the trip and visit the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington during the spring and summer for a game – don’t forget your mitt. North Richland Hills is just minutes north.
