Southwestern Athletic Conference
Hard Hits in Texas College Football
Comprised of 10 schools from Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana, the Southwestern Athletic Conference was established in 1920, with football teams competing at the Football Championship Subdivision level.
Texas Southern University, found in Houston, was established in 1927, and fielded a competitive football for the first time 20 years later in 1947. When you’re traveling through the Houston area, plan a visit to the BBVA Compass Stadium, a 22,000-seat marvel they share with the MLS' Houston Dynamo.
Once game day does arrive, make your way to Blackshear Field and watch as the PVAMU Panthers take on the rest of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in exciting college football action.
