Originally named Taylorsville, the city of Taylor is a pleasant and friendly suburb of Austin. On your next trek through Hill Country, plan a visit to Taylor and enjoy the small town charms. The city has been named as a Texas and National Main Street City. Taylor's downtown area features retail shopping in a unique architectural setting, and is also home to some famously delicious barbecue restaurants.

The annual 'Lights of the Blackland' Christmas lights tour is held every December when Taylor's Heritage Square is adorned with more than 300,000 lights. Many other festivities are held throughout the year. Two municipal parks provide swimming pools, picnic areas, tennis courts and other recreational activities.
