The city of Shamrock, found in the Texas Panhandle, is an attractive destination for your next visit to the Lone Star State. Shamrock was established as a post office in 1890 at the dugout home of George Nichels, an Irish sheep rancher. The town was incorporated in 1911. Nearby cities include Canadian and Pampa.
Oil was discovered in 1926, and features an interesting history – check out the Pioneer West Museum, built in 1928. The Shamrock community enjoys a small town atmosphere with the sweeping horizons and rolling plains Texas is known for. The annual St. Patrick's Day is a popular event in the town.
