Visiting San Antonio & Southern Plains

San Antonio is gearing up for warm weather fun. With 2013 comes the February opening of SeaWorld San Antonio. March brings the 2013 opening of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, along with Aquatica at SeaWorld. Splashtown San Antonio and Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort open near the end of April – weekend fun, spring break or a family get away – San Antonio has you covered. Sports are a given in San Antonio with the NBA Spurs currently raising the roof at the AT&T Center through the end of the regular season April 17th. Sports, amusement parks, events and festivals – San Antonio has it all this season.

February in San Antonio means rodeo, horse shows, livestock exhibits and concerts. The 2013 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo runs February 7th through 24th at the AT&T Center and the grounds of the Freeman Coliseum. Gather with family and friends and enjoy Little Buckaroo Farm, Swifty Swine Sprints and the Fajita & Rib corral among the attractions.

The excitement of San Antonio’s PRCA Rodeo is a must for visitors. Now in it’s 64th year the rodeo features roughstock and timed events followed by top names in County Music. See The Band Perry on February 20th, Justin Moore entertains after Xtreme Bulls on February 23rd, and Darius Rucker performs after the PRCA Rodeo finals on the 23rd. The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo has a full schedule of events and festivities to enjoy.

Celebrate San Antonio’s rich heritage and history in spring. The 2013 Fiesta San Antonio brings fun and festivities to venues across the city, April 18th through 28th. The Woman’s Club of San Antonio launches festivities on the 18th with the afternoon Fiesta Flower Show, with the Fiesta Carnival beginning that evening at parking lot C at the Alamodome.

Fiesta San Antonio delivers a diversity of events and festivities including the University of Texas-San Antonio Sombrilla’s Fiesta UTSA april 19th; the Mariachi Festival, April 23rd on the River Walk; San Antonio College hosts the 18th Annual Multicultural Conference on the 24th. Celebrate San Antonio in April!

South of San Antonio, the community of Poteet, 10 minutes northwest of Pleasanton, celebrates the strawberry harvest at the 2013 Poteet Strawberry Festival, April 12th through the 14th. The festival features over 100 food and craft vendors, 14 stages with continuous entertainment, rodeo and bull riding and a Parade through downtown Poteet. Youngsters enjoy the Alamo Attractions Carnival and everyone loves the annual American Fireworks Display. Have some springtime fun in Poteet.
