Hotels in Pecos, TX
Established in 1881 as a stop on the Texas and Pacific Railroad, Pecos gained early fame as a hangout for rowdy cowboys and fast-draw lawmen. Today Pecos is a hub of travel in the Panhandle region. Nearby cities include Monahans and Odessa, both just to the northeast.
Touted as "Home of World's First Rodeo," Pecos was the scene of an early cowboy contest in 1883 – today known as a rodeo. The 1883 events are re-enacted at the West of the Pecos Rodeo at Buck Jackson Arena. Learn more at the West of the Pecos Museum.
Pecos is a commercial center for ranching, irrigated farming, produce processing, and oil production. Spend time outdoors at Maxey Park or the Reeves County Municipal Golf Course.
