As you explore southeast Texas you'll come to find Navasota, a friendly and charming city. Situated nearly at the halfway point between Huntsville and Brenham, Navasota is a choice destination along the outskirts of the Greater Houston area. The city of Navasota was established in 1856 when the Houston and Texas Central Railroads were built through the town, enabling it to become a cotton processing and shipping center.
Navasota's downtown area is listed on National Register of Historic places and features a collection of shops filled with treasures of the past and present. Its close proximity to Sam Houston National Forest and other areas provide ample opportunity for outdoor recreation. Driving tours, location maps, and visitor packets are available through the local Grimes County Chamber of Commerce.
This friendly city is also found along the Eagle Ford Shale – an oil and gas formation in Texas' Western Gulf Basin.
