Whether it’s the night before Christmas or New Year's Eve, Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast know how to celebrate the season. With music from the Houston Symphony at Jones Hall or an East Texas band at Warehouse Live, this winter is the season for songs. Along with music, sports are always big in Texas - and it doesn't get bigger than the season’s end for the Houston Texan’s at Reliant Stadium. And all of Houston is hoping for the Houston Rockets to heat up the court at the Toyota Center soon. It's not all in the city, sans the heat of summer and peak crowds, the Texas Gulf Coast is delightful for getaway this season. Make your Texas holidays special any place you choose.

The Night Before Christmas with the Houston Symphony is near perfect for the holidays, with an audience sing-along and a visit from Santa. It's a great introduction to the Houston Symphony for youngsters, and a fun way to get into the spirit of the season. Make plans to see the Night Before Christmas December 3rd at Jones Hall.

The Houston Symphony and Chorus get a visit from Santa at 2011 performances of a Very Merry Pops. Join the fun the weekend of December 9th through the 11th at Jones Hall. The holiday festivities continue at Sugar Land Baptist Church 20-miles southwest of Houston. Enjoy performances of Handel’s Messiah with guest soloists joining the Houston Symphony and Chorus December 15th through the 18th.

Ring in the New Year with some Texas Football. Reliant Park, inside Interstate 610 loop south, hosts the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas New Year's Eve. Featuring a match up between teams from the Big 12 and Big 10, Houston’s Reliant Stadium is the place to see top-notch college football in action. The NFL Houston Texans wrap up regular season play New Year's Day with a game against the Tennessee Titans. Reliant Stadium is home turf for the Texans, come cheer them on to the seasons last victory.

Make Corpus Christi your destination this season and enjoy the cool weather and small crowds. Home of the USS Lexington, now a Museum, the World War II aircraft carrier is an ideal fall or winter adventure. Take a self-guided tour and see what you discover, the USS Lexington now features a MEGA Theater, Flight simulator and Mess Deck Café. You’ll see the ship resting in Corpus Christi Bay across from downtown Corpus Christi.

Corpus Christi’s Padre Island Yacht Club celebrates the season of giving with the annual La Posada Lighted Boat Parade. The 2011 event marks the 37th year for the boat parade through the Laguna Madre canals. Join a Holiday party on the Island and bring toys to be collected as La Posada Lighted Boat Parade passes by. This is a wonderful Corpus event to get into the spirit of the season.

Texas history comes alive in January as Galveston marks the anniversary of the Civil War Battle of Galveston. January 13th through the 15th, Galveston Historical Foundation commemorates the 149th anniversary with events and re-enactments across Galveston. Tour downtown Galveston and Broadway cemetery, watch the battle reenactment on Strand Street and join a tour of Galveston Harbor at the Texas Seaport Museum. Educational and fun, visit Galveston to commemorate its most important military event.
