Blue Bell Ice Cream is synonymous with Texas and Brenham is where it all began. Stop by the factory for a tour and taste of the latest creations – located on Loop 577 or Blue Bell Road, be aware there are no weekend tours. Brenham hosts the 2011 Washington County Fair September 10th through the 17th. Celebrating its 143rd anniversary, the Washington County Fair is Texas’ first county fair. Enjoy the traditional rodeo, livestock and fair exhibits at the Washington County Fairgrounds off FM 577.

If you’re in Corpus Christi, don’t miss a visit to Port Aransas on Mustang Island. North of well-known Padre Island, Mustang Island runs parallel to Corpus Christi and the mainland. Enjoy a round of golf at Newport Dunes Golf Club while you enjoy the seaside views; hop on a jetty boat for some shelling on San Jose Island; or relax on the 5-miles of beach at Mustang Island State Park.

Also known as the “Fishing Capital of Texas”, Port Aransas hosts a variety of sport fishing tournaments. Enjoy the Texas Legends Billfish Tournament mid August, the Texas Women Angler’s Tournament is the end of August, and September brings the Redfish Classic on the 10th.
