Everything’s bigger in Texas, but when it comes to cities, Houston is the biggest in the Lone Star state. The Texas Center for Regional Studies, located north of The Woodlands near Montgomery, celebrates the heritage of Texas and the 200th anniversary of the 1st Republic of Texas in April. The 2013 Texas Legacy Fest is held in Conroe at the Texas Flag Park and Heritage Park, April 12th and 13th. The Houston Kid’s Triathlon is the same weekend at the University of Houston Campus southeast of downtown. Or participate in unique events like Houston’s Neon Splash Dash. The fun calendar doesn’t get any bigger than Houston’s.
The seats at the Toyota Center are filled with fans cheering on the Houston Rockets. The Rockets 2012 – 2013 season runs through April 14th when the Kings come to town. The Toyota Center is also home to the AHL Houston Aeros hockey team. Now celebrating over 40 years of hockey in Houston, the Aeros 2012 – 2013 season runs through April 21st with the last home match against in-state rival San Antonio Rampage on April 13th.
The Houston International Dance Coalition presents the 2013 Dance Salad Festival, March 28th through 30th. The festival draws a diversity of artists from across the country and world to perform at The Cullen Theater at the Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. Enjoy world-class dance companies and performances this spring in Houston.
Celebrating its Texas roots and heritage, Houston welcomes the 2013 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to town February 25th through March 17th. One of the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo event geared to benefit youth, education and agriculture, the Houston Livestock Show features exhibits, presentations and rodeo. Among the 2013 events is the downtown Houston Rodeo Parade on Saturday, February 23rd, the Lil’ Rustlers Rodeos, and the Top Hands Horse Show, February 15th through 17th.
Venues at Reliant Park host the events including headliner concerts by the likes of Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, and The Band Perry among the many. The 2013 Houston Rodeo events run from February 25th through March 16th including the Rodeo Houston BP Super Series Championship on Saturday the 16th.
Indulge your spring fever and get ready for warm weather fun at the South West International In-Water Boat Show. The 2013 boat show is held at South Shore Harbour Marina in Bay Area Houston, 20-miles southeast of downtown Houston near the Texas Gulf Coast. Visit the show March 21st through 24th for a look at over 400 boats along with the latest fishing gear, fishing equipment and marine electronics.
