Visiting Austin & Hill Country

Austin, the Texas state capital, and surrounding regions celebrate spring 2014 with events including the Lone Star Fair & Expo and Rattlesnake Roundup, hosted by the Brownwood Jaycees. Brady hosts the Heart of Texas Country Music Association’s 25th Anniversary Celebration with events from March 21st through March 29th. Concerts at the Brady Civic Center and the Darrell McCall Golf Tournament are all part of the fun.

In Austin, the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo completes its 2014 run in March, along with the wrap of Austin’s popular SXSW Music, Film and Interactive Conference and Festivals. April brings Art City Austin the 12th and 13th, and the unique Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival the 23rd through 26th.

Keep up your spring training, Austin hosts the Premier Texas Triathlon, the Life Time Tri CapTex, on Memorial Day. Events include the USA Paratriathlon National Championship, sprint and international distances, and the Super Sprint distance. Austin’s Palmer Events Center hosts the Life Time Tri CapTex Expo, open May 25th and 26th. Cheer on family and friends as they swim in Lady Bird Lake, run and bike past the Texas Capitol and University of Texas, and then back to Auditorium Shores outside the Palmer Events Center.

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in Fredericksburg at the 2014 Crawfish Festival. Held at the Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg, May 23rd through 25th. The weekend in beautiful Fredericksburg Market Square features the crawfish boil, Creole Brunch, and live entertainment, including music by Zydeco Blanco, Bayou Roux, and Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys.

North in Coleman, June brings award-winning Stace Smith Pro Rodeo stock to the Coleman Rodeo Grounds for exciting PRCA Rodeo. An annual west central Texas tradition, the 2014 Coleman Rodeo is June 12th through 14th. Headliners for the rodeo are Randy Rogers Band and Kyle Park. Enjoy an authentic Texas rodeo experience in Coleman.

Once called the toughest town in Texas, Luling is now a genteel community drawing visitors for community events including the Oil City Car Show, and Roughneck Chili and Barbecue Cook-Off the weekend of April 5th. The 2014 spring event calendar includes he 86th annual Field Day celebration at the Luling Foundation Farm on May 15th.
