Visiting Austin & Hill Country
The fall and winter in Austin will certainly yield the most gorgeous and picturesque views of Hill Country. The long, scorching days of summer will have given way to the cool, breezy temperatures in cities like Austin, Round Rock, and Bastrop. Plan your next fall or winter visit to Texas and head for Austin and the surrounding Hill Country for a chance to experience world-class attractions, events, and festivals.
Austin is abuzz with activity all year long, with top bands and performers making frequent visits. This fall, check out all Austin has to offer like the Hippie Hollow Park, Travis County Expo Center, and the Jester King Craft Brewery will yield full-flavored bounties. Make the short drive in from nearby suburbs like Cedar Park, Taylor, or Georgetown.
One of the premier events held in Hill Country is slated for the fall. Austin City Limits Music Festival is a much-anticipated bash, and will be held over two weekends – September 30th to October 2nd, and October 7th to 9th at the Zilker Park. Make the short drive in from nearby Pflugerville and experience the music first hand.
Enjoy a Halloween celebration for all ages during your fall visit to Austin. Make your way to the Kreig Baseball Field on October 31st for the Texas Fireworks Dia de los Muertos Celebration – the drive in from Llano or Brady, both found to the west, will be quick and scenic.
All the excitement and pageantry of college football is back this fall in Austin and Hill Country. The University of Texas Longhorns will play all home games at Darrell K. Royal Stadium, and this season features some marquee matchups. On October 15th the Iowa State Cyclones are in town, and on November 25th the Longhorns close out their season with a fierce battle against the TCU Horned Frogs – a bitter in-state rivalry game.
When you make your way out to Bryan, found east of downtown Austin, you’ll be in Aggies territory. Texas A&M is based out of nearby College Station, and the residents of area towns like Franklin and Madisonville are Aggie-crazy. Texas A&M will have a tough 2016 schedule with marquee games against the University of Tennessee Volunteers on October 8th, and LSU Tigers on November 24th.
Plan your visit to Austin for early 2017. On January 20th you can check out Iliza Shlesinger live on stage at Stateside at The Paramount. Shlesinger is one of the premier stand-up comedians working today, and her show in Austin is not one to miss.
