Wineries of Central Texas
Vineyards of Fredericksburg & Hill Country
Hill Country is one of the best wine regions in the nation. Central Texas is home to more than 30 wineries, and plenty of wine festivals, tasting rooms, and vineyard tours for any fan of adult grape juice.
Fredericksburg is the epicenter of Hill Country’s wine region, set along US Highway 290 – also known as Wine Road. The location of the annual Hill Country Wine & Music Festival, Fredericksburg is surrounded by wineries such as Torre di Pietra Vineyards and Becker Vineyards. Sample flavors like the Midnight Mymp, Amore de Tuscano, and Cabernet Sauvignon at the Torre di Pietra tasting room – open to the public – or head to Becker Vineyards for more wine tastings and daily vineyard tours.
Grab lunch at Flat Creek Estate in Marble Falls, and sample your way through the tasting room from Tuesday through Sunday. Southwest of Flat Creek you’ll find Texas Hills Vineyards in Johnson City. Also along Wine Road, Texas Hills features wines for purchase and a tasting room – open daily, offering Texas Hills Pinot Grigio, Due Bianco, and Roussanne.
Northwest of San Antonio, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards is set in New Braunfels in the southern plains of Texas. Dry Comal Creek’s tasting room is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. – with public tours held each weekend at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Find your favorite flavor while touring the many wineries of central Texas, and rest easy at a Best Western hotel in Hill Country.
