Found between Lake Corpus Christi and Choke Canyon Reservoir, George West is an affable city and ideal destination for your next visit to the Texas Gulf Coast. George West was named for its founder, George Washington West. After building his ranch, he decided that he would set out to build a town on the same site.

George West built, among other things, a courthouse, a school, highways, bridges and a waterworks. The town is chiefly a retail center and shipping point for surrounding ranch and farm area. Head to nearby Beeville and check out the John C. Beasley Golf Course, or head for the coast and spend the afternoon in Corpus Christi.
