A charming ranch town in southern Texas, Freer is host of the Rattlesnake Roundup and a multitude of ranches. Found along U.S. Highway 59 in the Southern Plains, Freer is a former oil town and a great example of the fun found in small-town Texas. Get your picture with the large rattlesnake sculpture at the entrance to the Chamber of Commerce. Cotulla and Three Rivers are found just north.
Catch the Annual Rattlesnake Roundup in March. Held at the Freer Cactus Corral, attendees are treated to live entertainment, a parade and market of local arts and crafts. Don't miss the Dare Devil Snake Show, and be sure to try the fried rattlesnake meat. Enter yourself in the talent show of BBQ Cook-off, or sit back and just enjoy your time in Freer.
