Visiting Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex

From The Dallas Museum of Art’s hosting of the exhibit “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” to visiting the Puddin Hill Store in Greenville for the holidays, to buy a Mary of Puddin Hill Pecan Fruit Cake, the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex has a variety of good reasons for a visit this season. The city of Irving located between Dallas and Fort Worth, is adjacent to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport., and a convenient city for travelers to stop over for visits to Dallas or Fort Worth and area suburbs. Garland,12 miles northeast of downtown Dallas outside Interstate 635 Loop, is situated next to Richardson for those looking to stay a bit away from the city.

Garland is a wonderful Dallas suburb, convenient to reach on DART, downtown Garland is the last stop on DART’s Blue Line. Garland’s Patty Granville Arts Center is a hub of entertainment and culture for the community. For the Holidays, the Granville Arts Center hosts the Dallas Ballet Company performing The Nutcracker, the Garland Symphony Orchestra’s December concert, including a holiday carol sing-along, and the Ballet Folklorico of Mexico presenting Christmas in Mexico. The Arts Center is within walking distance of the DART station, making a night out in Garland easy and convenient.

Made famous by the popular TV show Dallas, Southfork Ranch is arguably America’s most famous Ranch. North of Irving in Parker, Southfork Ranch serves as an event and Conference Center today. Dallas Fans look for the new Dallas TV show to return to television in 2012.

Arlington just 15-miles southwest of Irving is a hub of activity for the Dallas Metro area. Nothing is more exciting than Dallas Cowboys football on their home turf at Arlington’s Cowboy Stadium – how about Dallas vs. Philadelphia on Christmas Eve? Get your shopping done and hit Cowboy Stadium and cheer on the Cowboys; this is the last regular season home game.

Take advantage of holiday vacations for fun at Six Flags Over Texas. Arlington’s premier theme park, Six Flags is open through January 2nd for Holiday in the Park. Legendary as the city of Cowboys and Culture, Fort Worth kicks off the New Year with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Now in its 116th year, the 2012 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo runs January 13th through February 4th.

Don’t miss the All Western Parade through downtown Forth Worth on Saturday January 14th, a session of the "World’s Original Indoor Rodeo" at the Coliseum and your choice of livestock and equestrian shows. Your 2012 admission allows free access to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Cattle Raisers Museum and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame.
