Visiting Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex

The Dallas metroplex keeps sports fans entertained year round. In addition to spectator sports, Big D offers plenty of events and activities to keep any one entertained. The 2013 Dallas Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon hits the streets with a half marathon race on March 24th. Join a relay team, run yourself, and be sure to enjoy the music, finish line party and headliner concert. The Southwest Celtic Music Association presents the North Texas Irish Festival, March 1st through 3rd at the Dallas Fair Park. The Dallas Arboretum celebrates spring with Dallas Blooms through March. Enjoy D-Town sports and entertainment this season.

The NHL Dallas Stars are back on the ice to complete the abbreviated 2012 – 2013 season. The Dallas American Airlines Center is home ice for the Stars through the regular home hockey season through April 27tth when the Stars host the Red Wings. The Stars share the calendar at the American Airlines Center with the NBA Dallas Mavericks through April 17, 2013.

Take note of the American Airlines Center location near Victory Park – multiple visits may be in order. Add the Big 12 Women’s 2013 Basketball Championship to the AA Center March, 8th through 11th, along with concerts including Bon Jovi, April 11th, and Rihanna on April 16th, and it’s a likely destination.

Visitors to North Dallas cheer on the American Basketball Association’s North Dallas Vandals at the Jewish Community Center of Dallas, 10-miles south of Plano. The Dr. Pepper Arena, north at the intersection of the Dallas North Tollway and Gaylord Parkway, also hosts the Vandals.

The Dr Pepper Arena, 15-miles southwest of Mckinney, is also home to the NBA D-League Texas Legends as well as the Texas Tornado hockey team of the North American Hockey League. The Tornado complete a full 2012 – 2013 season on the ice on March 30th when they host in-state rivals the Amarillo Bulls. The Legends Play through April 6th. The arena is also the home practice facility for the Dallas Stars.

Time flies in the world of Dallas sports. The Texas Rangers baseball team reports February 15th with spring training beginning the last week of the month. It’s time for Texas Rangers fans to plan for opening day at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Friday, April 5th.

Texas Motor Speedway launches its 2013 season with the Texas World Dirt Track Championship, March 1st and 2nd – the first NASCAR event is in April. The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup & Nationwide Series O ‘Reilly Auto Parts 300 / Texas 300 is April 10th through 13th.
