Visiting Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex
On your travels through the Lone Star State, be sure to make a trip into the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Home to wide range of attractive sights and entertaining endeavors, you’ll find much to do in Dallas and Fort Worth, which combine to create what is known as the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Fly in to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, just one of the many Texas airports, or drive in – either way, enjoy all fun of the Big D.
During the summer, tour Dallas with a visit to the Dallas World Aquarium. A perfect destination for families, the Dallas World Aquarium features animals from 14 countries, and is a great trip just before lunch. Travel in from nearby cities like Addison, Denton, and Emory for an aquatic adventure at the Dallas World Aquarium.
Late summer brings the hard-hitting action of the NFL back to the forefront – head over to Arlington and visit the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. A perfect Sunday afternoon activity for you and your travel partners, or the entire family, the Dallas Cowboys are still one of America’s most popular teams. Travel in from nearby Cleburne, or Duncanville and watch as the Cowboys take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their home opener on September 23.
Fort Worth is the western half of this metroplex, and it features a charm all it’s own. Home to Texas Christian University, locals and travelers alike, love late summer and early fall – it’s college football season! Head over to Amon G. Carter Stadium on September 8 and check out the Horned Frogs as they open their season against Grambling State. Travel in from Plano, or Kaufman and take in all the college football action of the Horned Frogs.
Experience some of the local history with a visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Once known as “Cowtown”, the stockyards was one of the biggest and busiest hog and sheep marketing centers in the United States. Enjoy a walking tour, or watch a rodeo.
In Arlington, you’ll enjoy a summer visit to Six Flags Over Texas. Travel in from Irving, or North Richland Hills and make plans to visit Six Flags Over Texas on August 25 – the first half of the day you’ll take advantage of exhilarating rides and attractions, and by the evening, you’ll be able to enjoy the country music of nationally touring artist Chris Young.
