Situated on Poesta Creek, Beeville was originally named Maryville for Mary Hefferman. The city became the seat of Bee County in 1860 and was renamed "Beeville-on-the-Poesta" – later shortened to simply Beeville.
Beeville is home to Coastal Bend College, and a quaint Main Street with shopping, dining, and the Rialto Theater. This friendly city is also found along the Eagle Ford Shale – an oil and gas formation in Texas' Western Gulf Basin.
