World Birding Center
The World Birding Center is comprised of nine birding centers along the southern Texas/Mexico border. The centers are located across 120 miles, in the Rio Grande Valley. The McAllen center, Quinta Mazatlan, is a 10,000 sq ft 1930s Spanish Revival house, set on 15-acres of native woodland. The site's beautiful tropical gardens attract a wonderful variety of wildlife.
Many bird species, including Green Jays, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Buff-bellied Hummingbirds, Plain Chachalacas and Olive Sparrows, find refuge at the center. Visit the center to enjoy a Native Plant Walk or partake in a Natural History Tour. The "Attract Birds to Backyards" program offered at the center is one of the more popular programs. Stay close to the center and additional locations, as a guest of Best Western hotels.
