World Birding Center
The World Birding Center is comprised of nine birding centers along the southern Texas/Mexico border. The centers are located across 120 miles in the Rio Grande Valley. The McAllen center, Quinta Mazatlan, is a 10,000-square-foot 1930s Spanish Revival house, set on 15 acres of native woodland. The site's beautiful tropical gardens attract a wonderful variety of wildlife.
Many bird species, including Green Jays, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Buff-bellied Hummingbirds, Plain Chachalacas and Olive Sparrows, find refuge at the center. Visit the center to enjoy a Native Plant Walk or partake in a Natural History Tour. The "Attract Birds to Backyards" program offered at the center is one of the more popular programs.
