Texas State Railroad
The Texas State Railroad is enjoyed by both residents and visitors of Palestine, a city set in eastern Texas. Departing from the Palestine Depot, located less than three hours from Dallas and Houston, the railroad was proclaimed the Official Railroad of Texas in 2003.
Step aboard one of the historic steam engines with the Texas State Railroad, for an enjoyable train ride past several points of interest. The trains run on historical tracks, laid by Texas State prison inmates between 1881 and 1909, from Rusk to Palestine.
A variety of seats are available from coach class and open air, to premium seats in the family car. For a unique experience, ride in the engine cab with the engineer to see what it's like to operate the train. Celebrate the holidays aboard the train, with a ride on the Valentine Express, the Easter Beagle Express, the Great Pumpkin Patch Express and the Polar Express Train Ride.
