Texas A & M University
Texas A&M University headquartered in College Station, encompasses over 5,200 acres of land in Texas' Hill Country. The university was established in 1876 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, with male students who were required to complete military training. Throughout the years, the university underwent many changes, including its name, in 1963. This premier American research university, with a Tier 1 ranking, is a Land Grand, Sea Grant and Space Grant university. The university's voluntary Corps of Cadets remains a vital part of the university. With the ten additional Texas A&M University locations throughout Texas, the entire university system is one of the largest systems of universities in America.
This impressive university is home to close almost 50,000 Aggies (students) pursuing undergraduate and post-graduate degrees from over 360 programs, in the ten on-campus colleges. While in town, be sure to tour this incredible campus. Two must-see tour stops are the Texas A&M Sports Museum, full of rich Texas A&M sports history and the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. Texas A&M University is one of a few higher education institutions to house a presidential library on its campus. Keep a lookout for the school mascot collie, Reveille VIII, who is often seen roaming campus grounds.
