Port of Galveston
The Port of Galveston encompasses more than 850 acres along the Galveston Bay. The port was established in 1825 in what was originally part of Mexico. It is the oldest Gulf of Mexico port, located west of New Orleans. The port was one of the busiest ports exporting cattle, cotton and a variety of commodities, before it was damaged in the 1900 Galveston Hurricane.
This Gulf Coast port manages an assortment of cargo and is the home port for Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line ships and the Galveston Railroad. While at the port, schedule time to visit the Texas Seaport Museum to tour the historic ships, including the 1877 Elissa. Enjoy your time along the coast of Texas as a guest of Best Western hotels.
