Gladys Porter Zoo
Encompassing 26 acres, the Gladys Porter Zoo is a wonderful botanical and zoological park in Brownsville in the Texas/Mexico Border area. Established in 1971, the zoo has grown over the years to house nearly 1,600 animals from 400 animal species. There are also more than 250 neo-tropical and tropical species living in the zoo.
