Camp Swift

Found between Lake Bastrop and the Colorado River, Camp Swift is located in Bastrop – just east of Austin in Texas Hill Country. Named for Major General Eben Swift, Camp Swift once hosted 90,000 troops, and German POWs.

Established in 1942 as a United States Army training base, Camp Swift is currently a census-designated place and training base for the Texas Army National Guard. Camp Swift is also a Texas Historical Marker recipient.
