In the far northeast of Texas, discover Atlanta. Established in 1872, Atlanta is a friendly city and warm member of the Piney Woods. The early years of Atlanta coincided with the building of the Texas and Pacific Railroad. Captain P.R. Scott donated 10-acres of land to the railroad for the foundation of the new Atlanta which was the Georgia home of many early settlers. The area served as a gateway for early settlers of Texas.
